Description

The BIM Sketch tool creates a new sketch on the current Working Plane and opens the Sketcher Dialog to edit it.

While the standard Sketcher NewSketch tool opens a dialog to select a base plane or maps to a selected face, the BIM Sketch tool is optimized for quicker BIM workflows. It ignores current selections and directly places the new sketch on the orientation and origin of the current Working Plane.

Usage

  1. Ensure the Working Plane is set to the desired orientation and position (e.g., set to a face or a level).
  2. There are several ways to invoke the tool:
    • Press the Sketch button.
    • Select the 2D Drafting → Sketch option from the menu.
    • Use the keyboard shortcut: S then K.
  3. The interface switches to the Sketcher Workbench and the Sketcher Dialog (task panel) opens.
  4. Create the desired geometry using the Sketcher tools.
  5. When finished, press the Close button in the task panel.

Properties

The BIM Sketch tool creates a standard Sketcher object. See Sketch object properties for details.
