Dieses Makro zeigt die globalen Variablen innerhalb des FreeCAD-Systems an (z. B. FreeCAD.myVariable). Der Benutzer kann Variablen zur Anzeige hinzufügen und daraus entfernen, die auch zeitgesteuert aktualisiert werden können.
Der gesamte Code für variableWatcher.FCMacro befindet sich in einem Makro. Die Installation besteht also darin, den Code in das entsprechende Makroverzeichnis zu kopieren und den Global Variable Watcher über das Makro-Menü, die Python-Konsole oder eine Symbolleisten-Schaltfläche (die bevorzugte Methode) aufzurufen.
Die zu überwachenden globalen Variablen mithilfe des Popup-Menüs ganz rechts auswählen. Auf die Schaltfläche „Jetzt anzeigen“ klicken, um die Variable und ihren Wert sofort anzuzeigen, oder auf die Schaltfläche „Timer einschalten“, klicken um einen automatischen Timer zu starten. Das Intervall für den Timer wird im Popup-Menü ganz links eingestellt. Die oberste Option im Popup-Menü ganz rechts dient dazu, die Liste der globalen Variablen zu aktualisieren, da diese unter Programmsteuerung erstellt oder gelöscht worden sein können.
Eine Variable kann aus der Beobachtungsliste entfernt werden, indem man mit der rechten Maustaste darauf oder auf ihren Wert klickt und „Variable entfernen“ auswählen.
Dies ist eine Vorabversion, in der noch nicht alle Aspekte endgültig festgelegt sind – insbesondere die Auflistung der globalen Variablen und ihrer Werte.
