Description

The CAM Engrave command is primarily for engraving a Draft ShapeString onto a part. It can also be used with other flat 2D geometry, for example imported SVG-based shapes.

Usage

  1. There are several ways to invoke the command:
    • Press the Engrave button.
    • Select the CAM → Engrave option from the menu.
  2. In the Base Geometry section, select the geometry to engrave and press Add.
    • A Draft ShapeString can be used.
    • Other flat 2D geometry, such as imported SVG-based shapes, can also be used.
    • introduced in 26.3: The drawing geometry can be selected directly from the same document even if it is outside the Job's Model group. For example, imported SVG shapes do not need to be added as Job models before adding them to Base Geometry.
    • When possible, select the whole flat shape instead of selecting many individual edges in the 3D View.
  3. In the Depths section, check and adjust the depth settings as required.
  4. Confirm the operation.
