Description
The
PartDesign PathPattern tool duplicates selected features or the active body along a path. This tool allows to disable individual pattern elements.
Existing rectangular base feature with PA-shaped subtractive feature → "Path Pattern" preview mode with deactivated third and sixth element (red x symbols deactivate elements, green + symbols reactivate elements) → Resulting solid (PathPattern feature)} - The extra dot is to show the location of the element origin on the path
Same sequence as above with "Align to path" option checked
Usage
- Optionally activate the correct Body.
- Optionally select one or more features in the Tree View or the 3D View.
- There are several ways to invoke the tool:
- Press the
Path Pattern button.
- Select the Part Design → Transformation Features →
Path Pattern option from the menu.
- If there is no active Body, and there are two or more Bodies in the document, the Active Body Required dialog will open and prompt you to activate one. If there is a single Body it will be activated automatically.
- The Path Pattern Parameters task panel opens. See Options for more information.
- Press the OK button to finish.

Properties
See also: Property View.
A PartDesign PathPattern object is derived from a ... object and inherits all its properties. It also has the following additional properties:
Data
Base
- DataOriginals (
LinkList): A list of selected features. Will be ignored, if the DataTransform Mode property is set to Whole shape.
- DataTransform Mode (
Enumeration):
Features (default)
Whole shape.
Part Design
- DataRefine (
Bool): Default is True. Refine shape (clean up redundant edges) after operations.
- DataFuzzy Tolerance (
FloatConstraint): Default is -1.0. Fuzzy tolerance:
- If value > 0: use the value
- If value = 0: leave default value
- If value < 0: determine value
PathPattern
- DataPath (
LinkSub): Path edges used by the pattern.
- DataCount (
IntegerConstraint): Maximum number of occurrences.
- DataSpacing Mode (
Enumeration): Selects how to control occurrences, options are:
Fixed count (default)
Fixed spacing
Fixed count and spacing
- Data (hidden)Spacing (
Length): Distance between occurrences.
- DataStart Offset (
Length): Default is 0.0 mm. Unused distance at path start.
- DataEnd Offset (
Length): Default is 0.0 mm. Unused distance at path end.
- DataReverse Path (
Bool): Default is False. Traverses the path in reverse.
- DataAlign (
Bool): Default is True. Aligns the occurrence X axes to the path.
- DataVertical Vector (
Vector): Default is Vector (0.0, 0.0, 1.0). Preferred local Z direction when aligning occurrences.
Transformation
- DataSuppressed Indices (
IntegerList): Indices of pattern instances that are suppressed.
Notes
- If a sketch is used, the path should start at the sketch origin, and the origins of sketch and feature to be duplicated should be coincident for clarity reasons, or else the locations of the pattern elements may appear a bit weird.
